La división de Bromatología y Zoonosis de la Municipalidad de Arrecifes recuerda la vigencia de la ley 14.346, que trata sobre el maltrato animal y las penas establecidas para aquellas personas que infligieran la mencionada ley, sancionada el 27 de septiembre de 1954 y promulgada el 27 de octubre de 1954 en Argentina.
En su artículo primero la ley especifica que será reprimido con prisión de quince días a un año, al que infligiere malos tratos o hiciere víctima de actos de crueldad a los animales.
Se consideran actos de maltrato el no alimentar adecuadamente a los animales, azuzarlos con instrumentos que les provoquen dolor, hacerlos trabajar excesivamente sin descanso, entre otros. Los actos de crueldad incluyen practicar la vivisección sin fines científicamente demostrables, mutilar partes del cuerpo sin razón justificada, lastimar y arrollar animales intencionalmente, causarles torturas o sufrimientos innecesarios o matarlos por el sólo espíritu de perversidad.
Ante este tipo de circunstancias se sugiere dirigirse a la Estación de Policía Comunal a radicar la denuncia correspondiente, o bien llamar a los teléfonos 452521 o 452559.
